The present educational system does not evaluate a student for knowledge. it tests one's memory be it school or college. The british education has created a negative impact; but traditional gurukula was based not on memory but on knowledge and real learning happened there.I do accept that it would not be possible for Gurukula at present scenario. We can change the educational system based on knowledge like the U.S system.students should be free to choose their subjects. The family pressure is huge in India. Every parent wants his/her child to fulfill their unrealised dream...
Education Industry in India is one of the highest earning industry but still there are many flaws in the present education system in India is flawed and most of colleges are producing mere mannequins feeded with the centuries old bookish knowledge.
The education system should empathies more on vocational guidance rather than academic and theoretical knowledge, which would make Indian students smarter and employable to a greater extent. Moreover I think the vocational training and courses should be imparted at the much younger age rather than waiting for students to come to college for that kind of education. And once a student has completed the benchmark of that school level it is the time to give him the kind of knowledge that will encourage entrepreneurship rather than promoting him to get a job in some MNC and leave the country. The way it is being done currently.
Even in the countries best institutes like IIT’s and IIM’s.The places which were termed as the temples of educations have now become the talent shops where all the foreign customers with deep pockets shop for the talent and whoever bids more will get bigger talent, the student and institute both are happy on there success but they must understand that they are responsible for the talent crunch which our country is facing and which will be increased in future, if this talent draining is not stopped.
we are taught to be humble "vidya dadati vinayam". the habit gets so ingrained in us that we begin to consider every stranger as superior.we take the saying " look before you leap" so seriously that our energy gets dessipiated in looking and the leap turns out to be a weak one. The traditional system will continue coz we are averse to risk taking. fixed deposits still remain the preffered mode of investment inspite of low returns they fetch.an average indian looks for a salaried job. so can we actually change the means, when we actually do not want to change the end?? this is just one detail out of many!!!!!!
